The Rahbeks’ kitchen was reconstructed in 2002. It had been preserved along with a fireplace and the original door out to the courtyard and also a cellar that had been used as a pantry. It is difficult today to imagine that it was possible to make splendid food for all these guests on the open fireplace, and many people ask it there was not a proper kitchen range. However, that revolutionary piece of kitchen furniture only really came to Denmark about 1850. Kamma Rahbek had a maid to help her with the housework.
